Post-Symposium Tour
The post-symposium tour
will bring us to Bajrawia , the beautiful
tranquil village lying on the eastern bank
of the great river Nile some 220 km north of
Khartoum.
The ruins of the Meroe
kingdom, temples and palaces can still be
found there

Three royal cemeteries were
constructed at al Bajrawia:
1-The South Cemetery, where
nine Royal pyramids (4 kings and 5 Queens)
plus 195 for other members of the kingdom.
Famous royals buried here are: King Ankh –
Nefer –ib-r Yesruwaman, King Amanislo, King
Kalka Kalatly and Queen Khennuwa
2-North Cemetery: contain 41
royal pyramids (30 kings, 6 queens) plus
other royals. King Kandake Amanitore, King
Amanikhabale, King Aman Tekha, Queen
Nahiraqa
3-West Cemetery: non royal,
where 113 were buried

- Access to Bajrawia from
Khartoum is mainly by bus. The journey takes
roughly 3hours, the road from Khartoum to
Bajrawia is bustling with young traders
selling tea, coffee, fruits and many other
goods, there are many restaurants and
traditional coffee shops on the way where
you can relax and enjoy traditional food and
drinks.

- On the way to Bajrawia
from Khartoum, you pass by the Main oil
refinery (just outside Khartoum province)
there after a stretch of pastures where
local nomads can be seen on both sides of
the road with their camels, sheeps and cows

- The Village enjoys fresh
supply of water, electricity, schools,
clinic, super markets and a small hotel for
tourists located on the main road linking it
to Khartoum

- Transportation within the
village or to and from the main souk
(market) and in between the surrounding
villages is largely done on donkeys ,camels
and/ or horses driven locally manufactured
carts, although some modern
transportation
exist on certain timings
